O Porto de Lisboa venceu a organização da Seatrade Cruise Med, uma das maiores feiras de cruzeiros do mundo. A notícia foi dada esta sexta-feira, 17 de Março, pela Ministra do Mar, Ana Paula Vitorino, durante a sessão de apresentação da estratégia para o aumento da competitividade portuária, realizada no Porto de Lisboa.
A Seatrade, após avaliação das condições da capital portuguesa para receber o prestigiado evento considerou Lisboa a cidade ideal para a realização da sua 12ª edição, que ocorrerá em Setembro do próximo ano, e pela primeira vez em Portugal.
A candidatura do Porto de Lisboa foi apoiada pelo Ministério do Mar, pela Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, pelo Turismo de Portugal, pela Associação Turismo de Lisboa e pela Lisbon Cruise Terminals.
A Seatrade Cruise Med é um evento bienal de dois dias e meio muito focado no Mediterrâneo e nos seus mares adjacentes, o segundo destino mundial de cruzeiros.
Expositores de todo o mundo, incluindo várias novas empresas de cruzeiro, reúnem-se para mostrar os seus produtos e as inovações do sector.
Este evento internacional é dos mais importantes na área de cruzeiros, e envolve entre quatro e cinco mil participantes, incluindo armadores e representantes de autoridades portuárias, além de cerca de 200 expositores.
Ana Paula Vitorino, Ministra do Mar, considera que com a vitória desta candidatura “Portugal afirma-se cada vez mais como player de referência mundial no sector dos cruzeiros, com todas as vantagens que a região e o país daí retiram, tanto em valor económico como em notoriedade para a cidade e o país.”
Para Lídia Sequeira, presidente da Administração Porto de Lisboa (APL), “esta vitória é o reconhecimento do trabalho que temos vindo a fazer, no sector dos Cruzeiros. A expectativa é que este evento venha a ser mais um agente dinamizador da economia deste sector”.
Há uns meses uma publicação da MEDCRUISE considerava que “Lisboa tem a localização ideal para servir de porto de ligação ou porto base para cruzeiros entre o Mediterrâneo, o Norte da Europa e as ilhas do Atlântico. Com uma ampla escolha de hotéis, um aeroporto com voos regulares para a maioria dos destinos europeus e Brasil, os voos mais curtos para a América do Norte e do Sul a partir do continente europeu, além de história, eventos culturais e pontos de lazer, Lisboa é ideal para cruzeiros em trânsito ou em operação de turnaround”.
Por altura da realização da Seatrade Cruise Med, o Porto de Lisboa já terá o novo terminal de cruzeiros em pleno funcionamento, que se espera venha a ser inaugurado ainda durante o 1º semestre de 2017. O terminal será uma ferramenta importante para fazer crescer o mercado de cruzeiros na capital portuguesa, depois de em Setembro passado o Porto de Lisboa ter conquistado pela segunda vez o prémio de “Melhor Porto de Cruzeiros da Europa” nos World Travel Awards. Nestes prémios internacionais a cidade de Lisboa também saiu vencedora ao receber, pela terceira vez, o prémio de “Melhor Destino de Cruzeiros da Europa”.

The Seatrade Cruise Med is a two-and-a-half-day biennial event focused on the Mediterranean and its adjacent seas, the second world cruise destination. Exhibitors from around the world, including several new cruise companies, come together to showcase their products and innovations in the industry.
This international event is one of the most important in the area of cruises, and involves between four and five thousand participants, including shipowners and representatives of port authorities, in addition to about 200 exhibitors.
Ana Paula Vitorino, Minister of the Sea, believes that with the victory of this candidature "Portugal is increasingly affirming itself as a player of world reference in the cruise sector, with all the advantages that the region and the country therefrom, both in economic value As in notoriety for the city and the country. "
By the time of the Seatrade Cruise Med, the Port of Lisbon will already have the new cruise terminal in full operation, which is expected to be inaugurated during the first half of 2017.
