Segundo comunicado da empresa, os navios, que terão, cada um, mais de 180 mil toneladas e 2.600 cabines, serão entregues em 2019 e 2020, construídos pelo estaleiro finlandês Meyer Werft. A capacidade será de 6.600 hóspedes por navio.
A construção, segundo Michael Thamm, presidente do grupo, "reflete a nossa estratégia de inovar constantemente a nossa oferta de férias e entregar uma experiência de cruzeiro incomparável”, completa.
As embarcações terão motores híbridos, capazes de alimentar um navio tanto nos portos quanto em alto-mar. O GNL será armazenado a bordo para gerar 100% de energia durante os cruzeiros, diz a empresa.
A Aida Cruises, ramificação alemã do Grupo Costa, também terá dois novos navios com a mesma tecnologia.
According to company statement, the ships, which will each have more than 180 tons and 2,600 booths, will be delivered in 2019 and 2020, built by the Finnish Meyer Werft shipyard. The capacity will be 6,600 guests per ship.
The construction, according to Michael Thamm, president of the group, "reflects our strategy to constantly innovate our vacation offer and deliver an unrivaled cruise experience," he adds.
The vessels will have hybrid engines, able to feed a ship in ports and in the high seas. The LNG will be stored on board to generate 100% power during cruise, the company says.
The Aida Cruises, the German branch of Costa Group, also have two new ships with the same technology.
